Google are entering valuable search markets and taking on the major brands in each category – namely Travel and Finance. They have done this by entering the search vertical themselves and taking control of the search page real estate. So how can you compete with Google in these verticals? Is it a wise business strategy to try to compete with Google?
Kevin Gibbons has written an excellent article in econsultancy.com about this very same issue. Gibbons argues that “It’s not about outranking Google at all, that’s the wrong question. It’s about providing the best experience possible within your vertical, so that you make Google irrelevant.”
